Join us for a West African dance class for women and children who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), in partnership with Charlottesville dance troupe Chihamba. In this fun and energetic hour, we will enjoy movement and rhythm, build community, and connect with our African ancestry as we explore the meanings and stories behind each dance. Led by Lillie Williams. Class runs every Tuesday at the McGuffey Art Center (on the 2nd floor), from 6:30PM- 7:30PM. Registration is required.

Chihamba African American Cultural Arts Ball
Join us for the 3rd Annual African American Cultural Arts Ball, a magnificent celebration of heritage and artistry, on June 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 11 PM at the Center at Belvedere in Charlottesville, VA.
This enchanting evening promises a vibrant evening of community, dancing, heavy hors devours, and exciting prizes, all dedicated to supporting the Chihamba Festival and the African American Heritage Scholarship. Experience a live performance from our very own Chihamba of Dancescape, Dance Troupe, and DJ Marvelous sets the mood for an unforgettable night.
Dress to impress in African formal or traditional attire, or indulge in classic formal wear. Secure your seat with tickets priced at $75 per person or reserve a table for eight for $500.
